Categories and Characteristics of Transducer, Signal conditioning units, Multichannel
data acquisition system, various types recorders, necessity for low noise pre
amplifiers, Difference amplifier, Chopper amplifier, Different types of electrode and its
equivalent circuits.
UNIT II BIOPOTENTIAL RECORDING 9
ECG, EEG, EMG, PCG, EOG, ERG lead system and recording methods, typical
waveform, frequency spectrum, abnormal waveform.
UNIT III NON ELECTRICAL PARAMETER MEASUREMENTS 9
Respiration rate, Pulse rate, Temperature, Blood Pressure, O2 , CO2 measurements,
Respiratory volume measurement, BMR measurement, Plethysmography technique,
Impedance technique- Bipolar and Tetra polar circuits, Detection of various
physiological parameters using impedance technique,
UNIT IV BLOOD FLOW METER AND BLOOD CELL COUNTER 9

EM and ultrasonic blood flow meters, indicator dilution method, Thermodilution
method, Manual and Automatic Counting of RBC, WBC and Platelets.
