ecosystem – structure of ecosystem – study of ecosystems – communities in ecosystem
– energy flow and material cycling – productivity in ecosystems - examples of
ecosystems.
UNIT II ECOSYSTEMS 9
Classification of ecosystems - Principles and components of Systems - Structural and
functional interactions in environmental systems - Human modifications of environmental
systems.
UNIT III BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLES 9
Biogeochemical cycles – patterns and basic types – the nitrogen cycle - the phosphorus
cycle – the sulphur cycle – the global cycling of carbon and water – nutrient cycling.

Natural ecosystem – types of natural vegetation – evergreen forest – deciduous forest –
